Heres one for you all, California is doing it again. I just got word the other day that one of our largest ranches in the state, Tejon Ranch is banning the use of any form of lead bullets. This decision was not solely made by Tejon ranch. They were getting alot of pressure from the state, because of the california condor. I also heard that this will possibly become the standard for the state. This change will start in 2008.

Are you serious? We have hunted the tejon several times for hogs. Had a blast by the way. So Barnes and the new Nosler Copper E-Tip have a new place to advertise their ammo it sounds like.

Yee Haww California did it to us again. They just passed a bill that makes all lead bullets illegal to use in any part of the state that has condors living in it or would be considered as their present or future habitat. So that will hit a good portion of the state right there. they also passed a law that in 2010 all handguns will have to be able to place a carbon print on a cartridge once it is fired this print will include make and model and serial number of the pistol. And all handguns that dont have this capability will not be able to be sold or transferred after that date not even to family. Well that seals the deal this state is completely screwed up.

Guys, I live here in Kookifornia, and lead bullets are not totally banned the last I checked. This is out of the Fish and Game Book:
If you hunt in California condor range, you are being asked to get the lead out. Following reports that lead ammunition is contributing to the high lead levels documented in some wild condors, the DFG and other conservation groups are asking for hunter in condor range (parts of the counties of Tulare, Kern, Los Angeles, Ventura, Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Monterey, and San Benito) to remove lead from the area by following a few simple steps: -Retrieve all killed animal (including coyotes and small game)from the field, or -Hide carcasses or gut piles by burying them, covering them with brush or rocks, or placing them in an inaccessible area, or -Remove bullets and surrounding impacted flesh when leaving carcasses or gut piles in the field, or -Use lead-free ammunition, in which case none of the above is needed.
