I went to South Africa with high expectations.  With my Christensen Arms 300 WSM in tow, those expectations were exceeded as I harvested five fantastic plains game, one of which will land in the SCI record books...                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         

 

The pictures of the animals I took can be viewed below but here's the skinny on how they were all harvested with my Christensen Arms 300 WSM:

Nyala: I shot a mature Nyala with perfectly symmetrical horns at a distance of 60 yards.  Two of them had stepped out in the open and were on their way to a watering hole when the PH spotted them.  The second Nyala had the same body size but had smaller horns.  After the shot rang out the Nyala took a few steps and collapsed.

Kudu: This Southern Greater Kudu was hanging out with a bunch of females late in the afternoon.  He was definitely the biggest of the group.  When the PH gave his thumbs up, the Kudu was 72 yards away and the Christensen Arms put him down.  The PH also recovered the bullet from the animal which as you can see opened up very nicely...

Impala: I was able to get a great shot on this record book Impala from a distance of 70 yards.  The animal ran away in thick brush, but the 300 WSM had done its job and the trackers easily found the blood trail.  The PH was extremely pleased as he knew that this Impala would easily go into the SCI record books.

Blesbuck:  I was able to shoot the Blesbuck at a range of 85 yards and after running less than ten yards, he fell to the ground.

Waterbuck:  After spotting the Waterbuck fighting with another from a distance of 297 yards, we waited for it to seperate itself and then I once again put my Christensen Arms 300 WSM to work.  After coming up on the animal we were able to recover the bullet and it had again opened up very nicely.

My experience in South Africa met my expectations and I can't say enough about my Christensen Arms 300 WSM and the way it performed along with the Barnes 180 grain TSX...A great combination!
