A few months ago I used my Christensen Arms Custom .300 Ultra Mag to harvest a Dall Sheep as well as this 390" Caribou.  I knew I'd need a gun that would shoot accurately from long range and in my mind I knew this is what the Christensen Arms rifles were known for.  Listen to how this played out...


 

The sheep hunt was progressing as expected.  We'd spot them from miles away and were having a hard time closing the gap.  After a lot of hard hunting we were able to stalk to within 550 yards of a small group of sheep.  My guide and I talked for a moment as we hunkered down on this windy hillside about whether or not to attempt a shot.  He kept insisting that the distance was too great to squeeze off an effective round and we should continue the stalk.  

Knowing how jittery these sheep are and the fact that they were already appearing a little antsy, I decided to see if my Cusom .300 Ultra Mag was all it was advertised to be.  To the amazement of my guide (but not to me) my Ultra Mag dropped the sheep where it stood with one shot at a distance of 550 yards!
