I guess people recognize me most for my ability to fight. I'll be honest, the adrenaline rush I feel in the ring can only be felt in one other venue...the field chasing big game. When presented with the opportunity of heading to Southern Utah to hunt monster mule deer I knew I had to find time in my hectic schedule to get it done. And knowing this unit was one of the best for producing big bucks, I didn't want to pack anything but my Christensen Arms 300 WSM...
After arriving in Southern Utah we immediately went to the local range to make sure my rifle was sighted in. That issue was quickly put to rest after I slammed a gong at 400 yards back to back, nearly the same hole. We then headed into the field where for the next few days we saw several bucks, but nothing I really wanted to harvest. With time winding down on the hunt my guide spotted a great buck bedded down at over 550 yards away.
We debated back and forth about taking him. We hashed out the distance involved, talked about the limited time I had left to hunt, and whether we would be able to find something better in the time I did have left. After it was all said and done, I made the decision to shoot him from where we'd spotted him. With the buck getting out of its bed and wandering across the hill I immediately got into position, pointed my Christensen Arms 300 WSM across the canyon and squeezed the trigger.
I wanted to thank Christensen Arms for building a great rifle that was lighter than I expected it to be. And coming from a profession where accuracy is key, I can appreciate how deadly accurate these rifles truely are.
Thanks again,
Dan Henderson, California
