X-Factor packs in viewing power

When daylight dims, shadows deepen, and you're straining for details, the X-Factor of the 8x42 Viper binocular really goes to work for you! XD glass and XR coatings team up in this high-performance binocular for eXtra-high resolution and increased light transmittance ... delivering brighter views than you might expect from binoculars in this class. These phase-corrected binoculars enhance resolution and contrast an excellent choice for "all-around" viewing!
XD glass is an Xtra-low dispersion glass objective lens for finer resolution, and truer color.
XR multi-layer coatings are proprietary, superior lens coatings to increase resolution and increase light transmittance.

XP engineering for rough handling

Vortex knows there will be times when it's just plain hard to keep a handle on things ... that's why the Vipers feature XP engineering. This design anchors internal prisms in place, in spite of rough handling, for years of exceptional viewing. Let it rain. Let it snow. Let the wind blow up a dust storm. Nothing gets past the 8x42 Viper. These binoculars are absolutely dust proof, fog proof, and waterproof!
Complete waterproof protection keeps dust and water out of the optical system with tight O-ring seals.
Complete fogproofing of internal lenses presents clear views in spite of sudden temperature changes because of nitrogen purged optics.
Ribbed rubber armor ensures a solid, comfortable grip even when wearing gloves.
Metal-reinforced eyecups are tough and durable.
The hard-working chassis of the Viper is extremely lightweight, yet rugged, with the wonderful solid feel that comes when each and every part is machined just right ... and fit perfectly together. Even the eyecups are made to endure constant wear with a durable metal foundation. Tapered for a more natural fit to your eyes, these multi-position eyecups provide you with the most comfortable viewing around. You'll enjoy full field viewing even if you wear eyeglasses.

Included with the Vortex Viper 8x42 Binocular:
